Product Description
The RETRO Arms CNC Gearbox V2 (8mm) QSC is a precision machined replacement gearbox shell for V2 AEGs. RETRO Arms makes it in the Czech Republic on its own CNC machines, milled from a single block of EN AW 7075 T651 aviation grade duralumin. The manufacturer rates the alloy at 590 MPa tensile strength, and says it lasts several times longer than a standard zinc alloy shell. It is a strong base for high power builds, HPA conversions, and anyone tired of cracked shells.
The QSC (Quick Spring Change) system lets you remove the spring guide with a hex key and swap the spring without opening the gearbox. The sockets are sized for 8mm bushings or bearings, and are cut about 0.02 mm undersize so they hold securely during installation. The shell also has pockets for glue or anti rotation bushings.
RETRO Arms added a long list of improvements. Small springs for the trigger, safety, anti reversal latch, and tappet plate sit in notches so they stay put. Windows let you check the angle of engagement, release the anti reversal latch, and adjust gear height. Wire routes are enlarged for thicker wire, threads are formed for strength, and the area around the cylinder head is reinforced. The cylinder sits on 8 support tabs instead of full rails, and the nozzle stroke is longer. The 2025 version also revises the gear meshing and bearing hole positions for better compatibility with other manufacturers’ gears.
It fits replicas with V2 gearboxes, including AR15 (M4) and M16 builds. Fit can vary between manufacturers, since airsoft has no dimensional standard. Professional installation is recommended.
